Castroville Cottages

Owned by George & Joan Voneiff, these properties consist of three beautiful accomodations for your weekend getaway or family vacation. All three properties are located in the residential historic district of Castroville.

The original Henri Castro Homestead built in 1845 by the colonist Henri Castro. Castro was given authority to build a colony in Southwest Texas by the Republic of Texas in 1842. He platted the Castroville townsite in 1844 and reserved this property as his. During the colonization of the area he kept a diary of the state of the colony. He spent many years caring for the colonists of Castroville and died during his travels in Monterrey, Mexico where he is now buried. Acquired by the owners in 2007, the property has been restored and featured in Castroville's Candle Light tour. The Homestead is listed on the National Historic Registry as well as a Texas Historical Landmark.

The Ahr Guest House is located on the Castro Homestead property. This house was used as a small cafe in the 1930's, run by Veronica Frey Ahr, Great-Grandmother of owner Joan Friesenhahn Voneiff. This property features three separate suites which have been named after the owners' children.

The Reppold House built in 1875 and acquired by the owners in 2005 has been beautifully restored to its former glory. The property leads down a hill to the Medina River and lends itself to great family vacations. The Reppold House is listed as a Pioneer Castroville Home (PCH) house.
